AI CV Review Prompts for Sri Lankan Job Seekers

AI can help review a CV, but it should not invent achievements or decide what experience you have. For Sri Lankan job seekers, the most useful prompts ask for clarity, evidence gaps and alignment with a specific role.

Keep a master CV based on your own records. Treat every AI rewrite as a draft that must be checked against those records.

Remove information the review does not need

Use a copy with personal contact details, identity information and private employer material removed. Replace real client names or confidential figures with neutral placeholders where necessary.

Compare the CV with a role description

Use a prompt such as: “Compare my evidence with the role requirements. Quote no more than short labels from the advert. Do not describe a skill as present unless the CV demonstrates it.”

Review the matches yourself. A keyword appearing once does not prove competence, and a related task may not satisfy a formal qualification requirement.

Rewrite one bullet at a time

Suppose your original note says you checked duplicate records in a student event sheet. A suitable rewrite can clarify the action and purpose without claiming you reduced errors by an invented percentage.

Ask for two concise alternatives that preserve the facts. Choose the version you could explain naturally in an interview.

Keep the original beside the rewrite. This makes it easier to spot added responsibilities or exaggerated outcomes.

Perform the final review yourself

Check qualifications, dates, employer names, tools and results. Read the document aloud and remove language that does not sound like you.

Inspect the exported file and follow the employer's requested format. AI feedback about content does not establish that the final PDF will be read correctly by a recruitment system.

Ask a trusted person to read the CV if possible. They may spot an unclear explanation that a tool repeatedly overlooks.

Can AI write the whole CV?

It can draft from supplied facts, but you remain responsible for every claim. Starting from your own evidence makes the review more reliable.

Should you accept an AI-generated ATS score?
