Bank trainee jobs in Sri Lanka can appeal to school leavers and graduates, but “trainee” does not describe one standard entry route. A branch-service intake, technology internship and management-trainee programme may have different qualifications, assessment stages and work expectations.

Begin with the bank's own career page

Use the employer's official website as your reference point. The Commercial Bank careers page provides information about opportunities with that institution. Check the current notice for the particular role before relying on a reposted advert.

Record the intake name, application closing date, required qualifications and application route. If a listing points to a separate recruitment portal, confirm that link from the bank's official page.

A familiar logo in a message is not sufficient proof of an official recruitment process. Avoid sending documents to an address that you cannot connect to the employer.

Read the role behind the title

Look for the activities the trainee will learn. Does the notice describe customer service, operations, relationship support, technology or a broader rotation? Identify the parts you can already support with examples.

If selected, ask for written information about the appointment type, training period, location, working schedule and pay components. Clarify whether travel or branch placement could affect your budget.

Do not assume that every trainee arrangement automatically becomes a permanent appointment. Read the actual conditions and ask how progression is assessed.

Are school results enough for every bank trainee role?

No. Some notices may target school leavers, while others require degrees, professional study or experience. Check the particular intake rather than generalising from another bank.

Do not rely on an intermediary's promise. Verify any stated payment or assessment requirement through the bank's official recruitment information.

What should you practise first?
